HR Consultancy

At Advanced-HR our experience gained by supporting schools tells us that Headteachers and Governors have been expected to know and be able to deal with more and more. Headteachers have been transformed from education leaders to the managers of a small, or in the case of secondary schools, large, businesses. Headteachers and Governors are expected to know how to manage human resources, finance, marketing, buildings, political aspects, keep up with ever changing government legislation and priorities, whilst still focusing on the main purpose of the school, which is to deliver the highest possible standard of education to its children.

Staffing and Human Resources are probably the most time consuming issue that Heads and Governors have to deal with. From our many years of experience we understand that, where these are not positive issues, it is often also one of the more frustrating management challenges. At Advanced HR our primary focus is to provide one to one support to schools so that Heads and Governors can continue to focus on the education of the pupils.

Our respected, qualified HR consultants have extensive experience in working with local government and teacher’s terms and conditions of service and pensions regulations. With our experience in employee relations and employment law we can help you with all of the people issues that your school faces.

Our HR consultancy support gives you access to the extra personnel help that you may need on a flexible basis. Consultancy and advice can be provided on an ad-hoc basis to deal with an isolated issue when a problem arises or if your normal HR provider cannot help for any reason. This means you don't need to employ expensive specialist staff on a full time regular basis but can access the level of advice you need - just when you need it.

Our annual service provides the school with its own outsourced HR consultant who will understand your business and will provide a one-to-one HR consultancy service tailored to meet your needs, at a modest, all-inclusive cost.

Consultancy time is planned to suit you and we work with Governors as well as Head Teachers so understand the need to be flexible and fitting in to your working day.

HR project support

Never have schools and colleges been faced with such a mountain of employment legislation. HR project support is essential when faced with those complex aspects of change, when you may not have the in-house expertise to deal with it.

We have the expertise to lead your school through difficult economic times and those one-off difficult issues; let us help you when you need it the most.

Fees

Schools can engage us for an annual retainer based upon the number of employees within the school or on an ad-hoc basis either per hour, per day or per project.

Changes to Teacher Appraisal & Capability Procedures 2012

Following a public consultation new arrangements for managing teacher performance have been announced. They will come into force on 1 September 2012.

New regulations on teacher appraisal will abolish the three hour limit on classroom observation and give schools more freedom to design appraisal policies that suit their own individual circumstances.

The new model policy provides an example of the sort of policy that schools might want to adopt when managing teacher performance. It is in two parts.

Part A covers the routine appraisal arrangements that apply to all teachers

Part B covers the capability procedures that apply only to teachers about whose performance there are serious concerns that the appraisal process has been unable to address.

Part B is consistent with the ACAS Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures.
